I’m someone who loves traveling, but also loves saving money and getting the best deal. Over the years, I have come up with a few tips for planning a trip on a tight budget. Let me know what you think and some of your own suggestions in the comments!
My favorite places to stay are boutique hotels. They are always a much better deal than hotels (and even AirBnbs if you don’t need the luxuries of a house!). They are usually very stylish and much more unique than a typical chain hotel.
If I don’t have a lot of money to spare on a trip, finding somewhere to drive to is a great, easy way to save money. If you look at a map, sometimes you would be surprised what is within even a few hours of you. When you drive, you can also bring a lot more with you easily, which can save money when you get to your destination.
Or if flying, make sure to book at a good time
If you do want to fly, it’s best to research average flight prices for the location you want to visit. Once you find a price that’s a good deal, book ASAP- even booking a few days later can result in a price increase.
Plan Ahead- Make An Actual Trip Budget
Whenever I go on a trip, I budget exactly how much money I can spend. After paying for expenses such as gas, flights, and hotels, I know how much I have left to spend on all other activities. If you stick to this budget, you won’t be shocked by how much money you spend in one week.
Bring Food With You
When I go on a trip, I like to bring breakfast food, snacks, and a refillable water bottle. Even cutting out small expenses such as these can make a big impact over a week or so.
